WORKSHOP “CIMIC CONCEPT IN SUPPORT OF THE REGIONAL PLANS” CONCLUDED: THREE DAYS OF TECHNICAL ENGAGEMENT AT MNCG HQ
The first 2026 session of the Workshop “CIMIC Concept in support of the Regional Plans” was concluded at the Multinational CIMIC Group Headquarters, Caserma “Mario Fiore” in Motta di Livenza, from 27 to 29 January 2026. Designed to enable a practical, work-oriented exchange on CIMIC’s contribution to the implementation of NATO Regional Plans, the event brought together representatives from NATO Command and Force Structures, CIMIC subject-matter experts and national representatives, with participation both in presence and VTC.
As highlighted by the Workshop Coordinator: “The workshop CIMIC Concept in support of Regional Plans was successfully concluded and provided a significant opportunity to discuss crucial topics concerning NATO CIMIC within the Alliance and approach to face future challenges". Notably, among the several topics, the participants discussed the lesson learned and key take away from NATO Steadfast Duel 25 and Adaptive interaction exercises, review of Regional plans, development status of a new CIMIC publication (i.e ATP 3.19.1) which will bring further guidance on the use of tactical CIMIC assets in support of NATO collective defense operations, CIMIC capability requirements and finalization of upcoming dedicated training sessions led by MNCG.
The WS convene several NATO organizations and CIMIC SMEs, including SHAPE, JFC Brunssum, JFC Naples, JFC Norfolk, LANDCOM, NATO Corps and Division reps as well as NATO nations representatives. Space was also dedicated to CIMIC capability requirements and to the finalization of upcoming dedicated training sessions, with the aim of supporting shared standards and interoperability.
From a broader perspective of tools and processes evolution, the exchange also covered themes related to tactical-level CIMIC planning, force generation mechanisms and procedural development, as well as innovation topics aimed at improving efficiency and timeliness in information handling and decision support. The hybrid set-up both in person and via VTC enabled broad and continuous engagement, keeping the Workshop anchored to operationally relevant needs and to outputs designed for practical transferability.
The Workshop “CIMIC Concept in support of the Regional Plans” therefore continues to serve as a technical working venue and an alignment platform among different actors, supporting a shared understanding of CIMIC’s role and strengthening interoperability in the context of NATO Regional Plans implementation.
MNCG is leading the way on civil-military cooperation.
